>>47462491It's not the best thing but it's certaintly one of them. The majority of the designs are honestly good (though some are dogshit, everything is gonna have stinkers from time to time), but CAP's Pokemon are always designed as competitive-meta-experiments first and this can really, really fuck with them from time to time.
The biggest example of Aurumoth, which is widely considered to be a complete fucking failure of a CAP and a personal shame among some of the members of the community due to it not only completely failing it's original concept (it was meant to be a risk/reward style pokemon but ended up just being fucking busted and risk-free) but also because the project leader kept trying to railroad it into his personal dream mon instead of keeping it on track. Voodoom is a shitty mon in the meta, but it was actually considered the most successful CAP mon (at least for a time) in terms of experimentation because it completely failed it's intended goal in such a way that it wound up actually accomplishing it (It was created to be a perfect partner for Togekiss, but in practice people found it actually made an extremely great teammate with Zapdos instead, so despite being designed as the perfect partner for a specific mon it wound up being the perfect partner for another mon.) It's thus considered successful for teaching people about Meta and how teambuilding and practical application can work at times.
They've gotten some great ideas and some hits and misses, but a lot of CAP's Pokemon have either had to be buffed in some way or undergone massive nerfs due to being too busted in practice.
So, I wouldn't say it's the best thing they've done, but it's certainty one of the most unique, engaging and interesting things they've accomplished.
I'd kill for a game with their fire starter though.
