I've never seen a girl in the real world that I want to be friends with but in Pokemon I'd be super happy to have a friend like Misty or Jessie

Her name (Mei) is Chinese, and it's not even that unusual an idea considering NYC has the biggest Chinatown in the world. Actually makes sense the Tao trio are Unova's legends. I guess Rosa would be of mixed background anyways.
