i understand where you're coming from for the rest of the post tho, but i'd say that complex comes from the fact that for 10 years they had to listen to superficial critiques like the lack of old mons in the regional dex, the linearity of the region or the story supposedly not making sense, and while sure, depending on each person's individual taste those can be flaws, those statements don't always come from people who've paid attention to the story or the little details, or have even played the games at all
i don't think the shitposting that's been going on for the last week helps much either. it just ends up kinda justifying their complex, doesn't it?
