>>47485141Personally I imagine held items aren't actual held items in universe, and are moreso a way to just give all of your pokemon a customizeable ability, so to speak. It's a reflection of their combat style and the way you've trained them.
For example, a pokemon with leftoverse isn't actually holding a large bag of snacks and taking a bite every turn and thus healing, it's just a "child friendly" gamefreak style way of conveying my battle strategy with that pokemon is based around me trying to get them to be extra tough and hang on for as long as possible. Subsequently, if my battle style involves a Pokemon just using one move over and over again until it wins or goes down, like something some retard in the anime would do, that's reflected by a Choice Band or something. The actual items don't exist, nor do the pokemon hold them.
Or at least, I find the franchise to be cooler and more enjoyable this way so yeah.
