Pokémon were supposed to be like animals, taking the concept of Magnets or radioactive waste and designing a herd of them in the wild, something that could be tamed/trained by humans. The new mons are bad not because of being bipedal, but because they started being on our level. They feel far too sentient and also get tacked on jobs like Construction worker, Spy, Wrestler or Magician that make them feel far too capable for this series, that's more of a Digimon thing.

I can't imagine Delphox, Conkeldurr or Incineroar having animal cries, it looks like they'll start talking about why you shouldn't do drugs, selling you their brand's cereal, or talking about a business contract at any minute.

Machoke or Blaziken were also humanoid but their concepts were animalistic, I can't imagine them speaking english. Machoke is just a retard that flexes and compulsorily trains his muscles, the Pokedex even specifies that Machamp's arms get tangled if it tries to use them for anything that requires dexterity, the whole Macho line was peak humanoid because it never stopped feeling like a beast - that thing only exists to bulk up imitating humans but is mentally limited to just being strong and punching.
Even the creepy Mr Mime still feels like an animal with human face imitating us.
Tymburr however, they're all born carrying logs and helping with construction. It'd make sense as descendants of the Macho line in the far future but not now. There's no tradeoff between strength and intelligence, somehow he's an expert at mixing concrete
