>>47491513i think gen 5 was sort of held back by the child-friendly image pokemon sticks to. if it was aimed towards teens it would be a win-win since children like things that are meant for older kids due to it being "cool" or more "mature" in their eyes.
if aimed at teens instead of "all ages", they could have made the story a bit more like another jrpg would. there was a lot of potential with the subject matter (ethicality of pokemon) and it's pretty easy to see the subtle romantic tension between N and the protagonist if you pay attention and look past the stupid juvenile shit. there could have been more about N's obviously abusive/manipulative childhood upbringing, the cult-like operation of team plasma and it's members, more about average citizens questioning their beliefs about pokemon after the radical protests/terrorist attacks from plasma.
