dual versions to lock exclusives
region has open world areas like the wild area and dlc areas from swsh and the sinnoh region from pla
new gimmick to make the region and games feel more unique
new regional forms/evolutions
dlcs instead of third versions

all pokemon coded in the games (national dex)

Here are some Gen 9 leaks:
- it will take place in a new region
- there will be new pokemon
- the starters will be a grass type, a fire type, a water type
- there will be lots of cutscenes
- there will be two versions

I think that it will be a continuation of the open world style introduced in Legends: Arceus. Of course, since this is GameFreak we're talking about, Gen 9's region will be largely made up of wilderness. Which means that, to justify that decision, the country they base it upon will also have to be largely made up of wilderness, with a very small overall person to land ratio.
Which is why I think it will be PokéAustralia. Give me my fucking platypus Pokémon already GameFreak, you literally don't even have to change anything about it's design, it's already a bloody Pokémon just put it in your fucking game!

Hoping for Pokestralia, that would be a pretty cool setting. I hope your idea about the land/people ratio comes true.

Expectations for Gen9:
>NatDex unfortunately won't be back, but if it is, they'll market it as a selling point and Joe will suck their cocks again.

>return of petting minigames a la Amie/Refresh
>Trainer customization is back, men still have a very limited amount of fashion items

And in the worst timeline, I can easily see another SWSH-quality title.

Hopes:
>elaborate routes with lots of secrets
>hard to find legendaries that aren't shoved in your face
>online events that give tickets to new locations where legendaries wait, not just giving the legends directly

>tile overworld
>either no Wild Area or a Wild Area that's more fleshed out
>starters with no jobmon evolutions
>weather systems in every area, but not as schizophrenic and unrestrained as the Wild Area in SWSH
>Pokemon availability based on time of day

>severe cutback on cutscenes

Reality: Another European region or with strong European influence; Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Canada (Montreal)

Ideally: A game that takes place between two regions, either with a background of war or cultural differences such as a region poor in infrastructure but rich in natural resources and another with limited resources, but with great technological advances.

Portugal has 2 archipelagos, a snowy mountain region, a desert area down south a foresty area up north etc. But honestly I think they would just focus on the Iberian peninsula as a whole.

There's only 4 gyms now because kids don't have the attention span for 8 because mobile games
The only dungeon is a corn maze that is also a straight line
