Kalos wins one victory over Unova. As a whole, Gen 6 was garbage and inferior to Gen 5 but the starter pokemon from gen 6 aren't just better overall, they are all consistently good designs and playable.

This was really the only good starter from Unova. It had the most memorable starter design and contrary gave it a fun and strong niche for battling.

Ugly doodoo dogshit with boring typing after the two previous gens of fire/fighting, does nothing new for battling

Ugly doodoo dogshit that does nothing good or unique in battling
Contrast these to gen 6 starters. Kalos starters were on the level of quality that make me like all of them and I would play any of them like I have all three of the Hoenn and Sinnoh starters.

Like him or hate him, the design is solid and his playability is the best a starter has ever been, being in the top 10 of OU since release.
