>>47517955The reason Scizor fell out of favor for a while was because of Cinderace. When Crown Tundra released, Smogon unleashed the big 8 (Blaziken, Cinderace, Kyurem-B, Genesect, Landorus Incarnate, Pheromosa, Melmetal, and Zygarde) from ubers, and one by one they all got banned except for Blaziken and Melmetal. Cinderace was the last to be banned, but it caused a lot of grief for Steel types in the tier, and Scizor was dead weight with a 120 base power, 90 accuracy Fire type move waiting around every corner to OHKO it.
Now that Cinderace is gone, the remaining Fire types are a lot more predictable and a lot less dangeroues. Heatran is whatever, but you can see Volcarona coming from a mile away. Additionally, the banning of Cinderace and Urshifu-S saw the collapse of Moltres' usage, and Moltres was one of the best anti-Scizor Pokemon in the game. Moltres dipped out of OU (though it'll probably come back because of Buzzwole, Scizor, and Kartana), leaving just a handful of Scizor counters.
And most recently, the rise of Kyurem, the ultimate check on bulky teams, has necessitated the rise of Scizor, its #1 archnemesis.
