>>47518896This is an idea I came up with ages ago but never bothered to jot it down.
So we all know how shit official VGC tournaments are right? It's basically just two guys sat at a table doing fuck all 90% of the time, while two commentators who have never actually played the games try to fill the silence with waffle, all in front of a dead crowd full of stinky neeks. I have a proposition to change all of this. My idea is an ambitious one, and will surely change how we see competitive gaming, and bring a lot more media and public attention to the VGC format, and Pokémon in general.
So firstly, we build stadiums around the world (say, to trial it, we start in Japan, then expand to London, USA, France etc.), specifically for VGC tournaments. Like the ones we see in the anime and SwSh.
Now, we make some changes to how battles work. Instead of two guys sat at a desk, we move them to the stadium, on opposite ends. They will have a desk each and their Switches will be on them. A person will be sat next to them to make sure they are playing legit, as normal. However, their games will be hooked up to a system that detects with Pokémon they are using, and uses an intricate Pepper's Ghost system to project their Pokémon's models into the arena, so it looks like they are actually battling. The system would be synced with the games, so you would see the moves they use in real time. There could also be music to make it more fun. It would make Pokémon battles much more interesting, and generate more revenue for TPCi. Also, I know people shit on Dynamax a lot, but it would genuinely be really hype to watch Dynamax battles life-size.
Let me know what you think.
