>>47521484If I had to pick, I'd day Morimoto or Unno, because they pack so much to do in the games they make, but I'd take anyone from that list except for Masuda and Ohmori.
Masuda used to direct games decently, but the salt he would have felt from Gen 5 tanking must have given him a chip on his shoulder and a "fuck 'em" attitude towards catering to fans.
Ohmori seems like he shit the bed with ORAS and Masuda just told him to get it out the door. His subsequent games all feel like wasted potential and I believe that Masuda nurtured his complacency, most likely acting as a mentor as well as the producer for the games. All Ohmori seems to want to do now is fill the games with his cast of anime rejects and let someone else deal with whatever problems come up during development.
He put so much into the characters that he ended up dreaming about them, but if practically everything else about the game is hollow, lacking, or just plain bad, then no one is going to acknowledge that, and rightfully so.
I feel like Ohmori is 100% the new Masuda, and will direct every initial pair until he passes the torch or the franchise finally dies. The only way I can see him not directing Gen 9 is if he directs PLA, that's the only shred of hope I have of him not making another shitty Gen of pedo and fujo bait. Just have to wait until they give us some news on PLA, whenever that is. Worst case scenario, I'll just have to wait to see the credits of PLA to know for sure.
