Cool. I'm doing a similar thing using both the Legends Starters and the regular Sinnoh Starters. This will be my second team. Not sure who else I want. An Electric-Type like Raichu or Heliolisk would be cool.

We got canon teams. We’ve seen in the trailer the MC owing or catching a riolu/lucario, rhydon, chimchar (or pick your own sinnoh starter in general) gallade, shinx/luxray, and your starter

This. I believe the games are going to be somewhat connected. Marketing will always be for both, and close to BDSP release they are going to drop the bomb on how the games will interact. So they can hype up PLA in the next month.

That honestly gives me some hope for a more robust main game. Then again I'm not really sure how much time and effort usually goes into developing the multiplayer/online/competitive aspect of Pokémon games.
