The real world has been retconned out of Pokemon since Gen 3, they just never bothered to update the dex entries until now.

Gen 1 and 2 was the real world + Pokemon, Gen 3 onwards are an entirely fictional world with no real world places or animals.

Because Pokemon stopped being based on the real world after gen 1 so it's stupid to continue to make references to it. It has been its own self-contained fantasy world since gen 2.

The only one is Indian elephant in Raichu's Sun dex entry as a callback to FRLG. Aside from that, all real world references have been scrubbed.
