Out of curiosity, could Gym Leaders also take on the league? Do you need 8 badges + proof that you're a capable, responsible trainer? In HGSS Gym leaders seem to use their "true" teams in rematches. Or just get promoted to E4

When you fight random Scientists, Hikers or Bikers, do you think they're random people like me and you who just have Pokémon and pursuing their own shtick, or they're also random League challengers? It almost sounds like society wants to produce semi-competent trainers before they hit puberty

Depending on some subjects or schools it teaches you critical thinking or memorization but I really felt like high school didn't teach me a whole lot to make me mature as a person. Except maybe reading comprehension and training my brain.
