Anyone who thinks any Pokemon game is hard should try actually replaying it instead of relying on their retarded childhood memories.

I used to think the Yellow E4 was hard because I got stuck on it as a kid but when I replayed the game it was a joke. I used to think Ghetsis was hard but then I replay BW and end up with a lv67 Haxorus that 1HKO his Hydreigon by the time I get to him. These games are completely braindead outside of battle facilities and maybe the 2nd island totem fights in USUM before you get access to Toxic.

RB Blue sucks ass
Yellow Blue is mediocre
Lance and his mono-flying squad aren't too special
Steven is a good step forward but is still held back a bit by maining Rock and Steel types, but Metagross is awesome
FRLG Blue is large improvement over his past self, but he's only really a powerhouse in the rematch
Wallace is a step back by being a full water monotype fag
Cynthia isn't monotype at all, has the craziest spike in levels with her level 66 Garchomp, and has some pretty tough pokemon and nice movesets all around.

Even though he’s monotype his Pokemon don’t have many common weaknesses, he uses a ton of bulky Pokemon with recovery and Toxic, and his Gyarados can be an easy lose condition if it sets up DD too many times. If you have a good electric Pokemon he’s probably trivial but not many Pokemon in RSE are good Thunderbolt users. Meanwhile Sinnoh has a ton of water or ice types that can click Ice Beam to fuck up half of Cynthia’s team.

Unless you were using direct hard counters and had prefect attack stats in return from your RNG, it wasn't as easy as Blue, Lance, Steven or Wallace though, is the point. I haven't wiped to a Champion in my life, but I also one-shot each and every one of the Champion's pokémon before meeting Cynthia.

Leon has Aegislash and Dragapult which alone can fuck up an unprepared team. He's also about 10 levels above the rest of the champion's cup so if you're around their level then you'll be underleveled for his fight.

you can easily have a lv70+ starter by the time you get to Cynthia and her levels are less relevant because zero of her Pokemon have any EVs. You can outspeed her Garchomp with something 10 levels below it.

She wasn't just hard, she was a demon. I steamrolled the game without having to grind once until I got to her. Maybe my team just sucked, but I had to add about 7 levels to each of my Pokemon which took like 2 straight hours. Honestly though I'm glad that because of this, one of the first things I think of when I think about Cynthia is "asskicking".

If we're going by this logic then Leon is hard because "normal" people use 12+ pokemon and rotate their team. These items are supposed to be safety nets to ensure that you win the battle. If you NEED to use these items, you were in a situation where you would have lost without them. That must mean either you fucked up or the battle indeed was harder than average. "The fight is easy because of item spam" is a nonsensical argument. "The fight is hard because I needed item spam" isn't.
