It does seem to have a lot of potential crossover with Ghost and with Poison, the other 'evil' types. I wouldn't particularly mind if e.g. Houndoom was Ghost/Fire or Umbreon was Poison. I'm not really sure what the justification is for Poison being weak to Psychic? Something ninja-related I guess.
Overall I'm happy Dark exists but it I do consider it the most 'unnecessary' type next to Fairy.
