Yokai Watch 2 and 3 were better than anything GF put out since 2013. SMTV and MHS2 look promising and that's already more than what you can say about BDSP or Legends

Are we forgetting that MH has a different design philosophy to pokemon?
Pokemon 100% Fantasy Creatures
MH 50% Fantasy 50% Realism. Monsters have different species and follow some form of real-world taxonomy

and yet calumon, the star of the show in tamers, was dropped and hasn't been obtainable since 2011. since 2007 if you only look at english releases.

Unironically yeah. If Pokémon never had transfer in the first place a rotating roster wouldn't be an issue. The problem is Gamefreak wants to have their cake and eat it too at the players' expense.

The mining mechanics were extremely well done for the technology on the DS, and the computer box equivalent where you stored your spectrobes and got to see them walking around was cute and fun, way better than normal pokemon boxes. I just wish that its battle system was better.
