Probably a legit shiny mew. Only available in the wild and not shiny locked in one game 16 years ago that depends on a limited time event and only on a japanese cart. And you still have to soft reset for a full odds 1/~8000 occurrence.

You can find them by the bucketload in pogo, and you can transfer them to mainlines now. There's a lot of shit that was rare before that is now easy due to pogo

Diancie. It's only been given out twice, and it hasn't been given out since 2015. Not including mythicals though, it probably actually is Glameow, because while it is somewhat common in Go, it is not in LGPE or SwSh and so cannot be sent to the mainline games yet.

Should've been more specific on the criteria like whether you count shinies, just the species or rare events. For shinies the specific Spinda pattern is probably the rarest. For species in theory is should be the special Magearna cause it requires you to own all the other species first.

gen5- gen7: event pokemon are the gimmick at this point regular pokemon no longer an issue but if you miss an event too bad for you. gen 7 giving us some of the easiest legend shiny resets to exist.
