Yeah this is really important to remember, Beartic is an ice mon with high stats that doesn't need to evolve, you could catch it and immediately add it to your team and it would pull weight. It's also a good mon in Dynamax adventure.

Not really, outside of tanks like Skarmory, pokemon that are better in competitive are better in games as well, and its only due to appearing later in the game or requiring more effort to build that they aren't used earlier.

it's actually because Game Freak grought back all the problematic Pokemon in the first place. Centiskorch used ot be UU before Crown Tundra. Now it's Untiered.

There was some merit behind it prior to gen 8, but now it's completely unplayable and absolute garbage.
Glad Dynamax will be gone in Gen 9. Maybe BSS might go back to being somewhat entertaining.

Because in the very low tiers it gets to the point where the stronger little cup pokemon become more and more viable than the fully evolved untiered ones, and eventually you might as well play level 100 little cup.

With Grass types alone Tangela, Ferroseed, Foongus and maybe even Cottonee are better picks for a defense or support role than Meganium. Not all of them are good, but they're better than Meganium. NFE grass types that are also more viable than Meganium include Ivysaur, Thwackey and Servine.

I'd also say the only Grass-Type NFE better than Meganium is Thwackey. Even then, the two Pokemon serve completely different roles, so they're not that comparable

Lol no. Ferroseed and Tangela offer way more utility. The former's steel typing makes it hard to hit for good damage, and regenerator makes the latter a nuisance. Both benefit greatly from eviolite as well. There's a reason both are used often in the lower smogon tiers, and have good viability rankings backing this usage, and Meganium doesn't. Cottonee has prankster shenanigans with subseed, tailwind and memento. It's not that great but it's a niche, something that Meganium lacks. Foongus likewise has the annoying spore and regenerator, two things meganium would kill for, and a better defensive typing. The NFEs I mentioned do indeed differ from meganium in playstyle, but they're all more viable regardless. If you've got a strategy for Meganium that warrants using it I am all ears.

Meganium can work as a bulky special sweeper in Sun. With Solar Beam and it's Leaf Guard ability, it can be surprisingly effective at dealing a decent amount of damage, while offering support in the form of being able to setup screens. It's 80 Speed allows it to outspeed a lot of things with a Choice Scarf, or you could alternatively focus more on the physical side and take advantage of it's better physical movepool
There's actually many ways you can use Meganium. It may not be better than Venusaur, but it still has things over it that makes it worth using occasionally

Beartic isn't even bad. It's strong as a choice band attacker in lower tiers and is actually usable in higher tiers on rain teams since it has swift swim and can fuck up grass and dragon types.
