It's pretty funny people thought Misty/Brock would appear early in this series due to being in Kanto and both Iris and Dawn (and the Alola cast) appeared before her. Cerulean Gym is like a 10 minute walk from Vermilion and Ash doesn't care to visit her.

1. Not based on any character from the current or past Pokemon Gen Games.
2. Combining some different personalities from Ash's past female companions.
3. Drawn and designed from the ground up in PM.
4. Belongs to a typical family who have real-life careers (e.g Professor, illustrator)
5. Has an Eevee that does not evolve into any forms (Yeah, call it a shillmon that always belong to girls since May, except Dawn and Iris, but this Eevee stands out)
6. Her possibilities are endless due to not having a "goal", sets it apart from every Ash's past female companions.
7. Attends regular school like any school-going kid in the world (though recently it has been only "shown" off-screen)
8. Somehow gets access to a "large" wardrobe of traveling attire albeit recently.

It's really only a vocal minority on youtube, most twitter fans like Dawn who are XY fans. It's likely young teens 13-15 year olds who grew up with XY as their first saga and wondering why Serena never showed up.

It's not much different than the way Misty fans were acting when AG was airing the first time, because back then they seriously believed Misty had to be on the show forever or that Misty was too important to be written off. It's just a never ending cycle of delusional shippers thinking whatever girl they grew up with during their "childhood nostalgia" is important, but they're really not.

I wonder if Tomiyasu obviously hates Serena. In the first directed XY Citron episode, I made him speak without reading the air. In the Dent re-appearance episode, Iris and N appeared in the recollection, but Serena has no shadow or shape .

Misty (and Brock) got 4 eps in SM, so it's obvious why the writers aren't in a rush to bring them back this time around.

I honestly think had the SM cameos for Misty/Brock never hapened, then they probably would have appeared in the first year. The Pikachu vs. Mega Gyarados battle probably would have been for the world tournament when Ash was raising the ranks but they used it up already.

I think Dawn's only main flaw is her generic character design. She feel like an average cute girl with long straight hair.
Maybe the anime should have made Dawn's fringe/bangs longer, snoother and shaper with brighter eyes like the girl in the pic. Even better if Dawn had similar fringe/bangs like Gloria. Some reason, the anime makes Dawn's hair look like papers.

Off course there are things only Misty can do due to her travelling with Ash from the beginning and being close to an older sister figure.

PS: What is the better word for the hair on the forehead? Fringe or Bangs?

I hope we do get an old main character returning every 7-10 eps now. In the first year all we got was the Alola characters and it took an entire year later till Iris. That gap was insane and they could have brought back more old characters in that span.

We still have Misty/Brock, Cilan, Bonnie/Clemont, Serena and Lillie at the least to go. Even if we don't get Tracey or May/Max, that's still at least 5+ more characters.

Since the anime making Ash more eccentric and loud so there should be a male/female character that consistently gets annoyed by Ash's upbeat personality and tries to lecture him only to become the butt of joke. Example : Konata and Kagami (Lucky Star), Shinchan and Kazuma (Crayons Shin chan )

The fuck are you watching? If anything they're making Ash more calm and quiet, he only gets excited by the things he really likes or when someone starts to talk with him first, it's even more obvious in the Goh episodes since most of the time he's just observing in silence and only gets involved when neccesary.

It's hard to pinpoint his personality but he's less annoying than Naruto in Shippuden and less autistic than Luffy in Shounen terms.

You could almost count some of the episodes where nothing majorly important happens besides Goh catching a Pokémon (Absol, Floette, as examples) as filler since the characters don't seem to change overmuch and Goh's Pokémon are by and large less significant than if Ash or Chloe were to catch one.

But it's hard to say who will be the next Goh-mon that gets showered with focus the way Scizor or Pinser have. So they're not really filler, either.

That stuff doesn’t really matter since PM isn’t their story. What matters is how they impact the current narrative or character development of the main cast. Every returning character so far has come back for a reason. Even a minor character like Chuck shed light about Bea’s backstory.

While Cilan doesn't have any progress they could show off, I wouldn't mind seeing him back at all. He is easily the most entertaining and unique of all Ash's companion to me. I mean, Iris' goal was to become a Dragon Master which is vague as hell in itself, but she came back as a champion. Most expected her to be a gym leader, but a champion, nah.

With Cilan's nerdy interests, he can be applied into many events and scenarios. Personally I'd like to see him come back and maybe catch an Applin. It'd be a good addition to his gym team, and a very Cilan-like pokemon. I very much doubt we'll be seeing Cilan though, unless he is popular in Japan.

Summary of next week's episode courtesy of Adamant

"The leader, brass, of a group of Tairetsu, Pokémon that work together as 6, has gone missing due to its self-doubt as a successful commander... so with no leader around, Pikachu makes a surprising decision...?!"

Summary:
Satoshi and Go have gone to the Galar region in order to research Tairetsu. There they find a group of Tairetsu that's completely out of sync. In turn out the Tairetsu accidentally got separated, so Go goes to help the brass, the leader, while Satoshi helps the other troopers. It appears the brass is depressed because of its inability to command the troopers well.... so with no leader around, Pikachu makes a surprising decision...?!

Maybe. Given the direction, Journeys as a multi-region series can go on forever because execs and writers are more liberated in creativity and ideas unlike prior series (AG-SM) where they are always feel to be a "rush".
Don't be surprised to see new gen regions drawn into Journeys just like what OS did before.
