Why would the only appropriate time to see a new mon be when finding it on the wild?
Aren't the other trainers supposed to show pretty much every other non legendary?
I can understand not wanting to have a trainer use a mon that is unobtainable until a lot later but this is just weird
This is the second time I've heard this weird fuckin take and I thought it was just some guy making shit up about spoiling Kekleon or whatever but apparently not

i thought the murkrow - especially as the first mon - was a weird placement. but whether intentional or not it's a nice little surprise when you first fight morty.
if you go into the battle with your overlevelled gengar expecting to sweep him you'll be hit by pursuit. even if you start off with a dark type you'd still be unlikely to k.o. the murkrow before it paralyzes it.
unlike some other gym leader fixes i think this one strikes a good balance of team strategy and being a realistic challenge for an early gym. i was going to suggest signal beam or something on the haunter/misdreavus to throw in another obstacle for anyone trying to sweep with a single dark type but nothing here can learn it. probably for the better.
