I really enjoyed the first game that came out in the 3ds, even though I never played any other MH game.
Nevertheless, I downloaded the demo for this one and fps was completely shit and made me nauseous. Gene hunting was extremely convoluted and a pain to keep track of, even though there's an entire menu dedicated to it. I think I'm gonna skip the full game and save my money.

Compared to genes in Stories 1, yes. Not only do you have to hatch the correct monster to get a gene and hope it has the gene you want, it also has to be in the correct spot out of 9 to match an open space on whatever you want to give the gene to, and you have to go to a den and get a new egg every time you don't get what you want.

Your half right. But IV training was worst since 6 ivs are also RNG depended.

Stories 2 made it very easy. You can place the genes where ever you want

In DQM you get Skillpoints after you level up at certain levels. So for example
11 sp at lv 4, 8 sp at lv 8, 20 sp at level 14
You can use the SP for any skills u have.
So in pokemon, it would be to place EV points in any stat of your choice
