>>47578799The only valid point is the level curve and difficulty, but every Pokemon game has difficulty issues, most being extremely casual, so I don't care enough to single out gen 2.
Every other point is stupid. Pokemon games have always been based around trading. If you want to evolve Kadabra, you have to trade. If you want to use a Sandshrew in Pokemon Red, you have to trade with someone who has Pokemon Blue. If you want to use a Sneasel at the beginning of Gold, you trade with someone who's already beaten the game. None of this is a flaw with the games just because you decided to play Nuzlockes in an emulator alone or something.
Furthermore, most games in the series have Pokemon that you can't get until the end. In RSE you can't get Beldum until beating the game. In BW you can't catch Heatmor until Victory Road. In XY you can't catch Noibat until late in the game. And GSC has some new Pokemon in Kanto and Mt. Silver. None of this is a flaw because it adds value to these locations. It gives you things to look forward to late in the game, rewards for progressing, rather than giving you nothing new. And again, you are intended to trade with others if you want to use these Pokemon earlier.
One of these pictures actually criticizes GSC for having some arcane mechanics. That is ridiculous because none of the later games changed this design philosophy, and in fact they often went further with it. DPP has honey trees, some Pokemon only evolve in certain locations, Inkay only evolves when holding the 3DS upside-down, Mareanie in SM has an obscure catching method, several of the new Pokemon in SM are easy to miss in the wild while rarely if ever seen in trainer rosters, etc. Just idiotic to single out gen 2 for Headbutt mechanics, or friendship evolutions which are in all the games.
