There is no shame in liking the starters, anon. They spend the most time and money crafting them to make them game sellers.

The only time I ever considered boxing a starter was for SwSh and even then I ended up rolling with Inteleon

Depends on the game
Personally I always keep my start in gens 2, 4, and 6. I always box my starter in gens 7 and 8. And the others I kinda go either way depending on who else I’m looking to catch (I avoid type overlap above all else)
