It was okay. 80% of the game looks the same and I don’t remember any city names but it was fun how some Alola pokemon had unique methods to find them such as crabrawler

Also nice to go legend hunting again and find each tapu in their cave since Kalos dropped auxiliary legendaries

Alola unfortunately has the plus of being the most recent game to have all pokemon within its data. Until they (if they do) make away with the dex cut I’ll be stuck playing this mid region

It was like going on a guided tour through a theme park. At no point do ye feel as though you’re actually exploring the wilderness, it feels more like a medium-sized park in a major city.

Playing through Ultra Moon just so I can eventually S.0.S. chain a HA Drampa, and my GOD it's a chore. Even with minimum battles, it's essentially being led by the nose from one checkpoint to the next so you can sit through another soulless cutscene. Having just finished replaying Red and Crystal on VC, is this what modern Pokémon has become?

Are you doing nothing but the story? There are a bunch of sidequests and other things to do atbasically any time after the first trial. If you're seeing only cutscenes and checkpoints it's because you're not looking anywhere else.

I think its mainly because it doesnt feel like a big open world, but rather like many little closed worlds, which all individually suck.

What had to be done was actually connect them with surf routes and add features to make surfing more exciting (right now is just battling every 3 steps).
