The removal of HM was the death of Pokemon as a soulful and authentic game. Lost are movepool decisions, team management, and challenging puzzles. It was the first step towards casual gameplay that brings out the worst in people. It was a big loss to immersion into the journey and kill off the unique funny mechanic. Let's be honest, if you don't like it, don't play. But I think we can all agree that the game is no longer fun without HM.
