The slow, grueling conversion of /vp/ to a pokemon-themed /trash/ clone smote plenty of ordinary posters away, relegating it to even more of a pornographic backwater with very minimalistic occasions of good discussion. This was assured to be more-so the case during news droughts, as has happened before here, but perhaps the alienation of the global lockdowns driving porn consumption and the refusal of /trash/-thread crackdowns intensified the situation. Unless Legends Arceus or the DP remakes revive enough sentiment, this board will probably continue down that trend for the foreseeable future.

Besides Pokemon itself being at a low point for hardcore fans, 4chan is also declining. The site was fueled by millennials in their teens and 20s throughout the 2000s and 2010s, and many of those people have been moving on as they get older. Zoomers have been replacing them, but not as many, since discord and other places are more appealing to them. 4chan is lasting longer than traditional forums because of its anonymity, but eventually it may die off like they did.
