I wonder if there is another category of lifeform which is inherently so unique that it can work well as a Type, along the lines of Dragon, Ghost, Fairy Bug and arguably Grass.

Something like Alien works but just doesn't suit the sort of franchise Pokémon is. Monster Type would work if they weren't all monsters already.
