Gen 8 fossils are based on the crystal palace fossils. The wrongly put the fossils together and mistook them for actual living creatures. The gen 8 fossils pokedex entries are written like normal fossilmon entries despite none of them or their species ever existing.

Now I understand. I haven't played gen 8 games. It explains the dragons with the really weird bodies. So basically they were created when two fossils that didn't belong to each other were combined, basically becoming chimeras?
