Hoenn used to be my favorite region and ORASS ruined it so badly that I stopped buying new pokemon games gen 6+ and no longer care for Hoenn. Singlehandedly lost GF this customer to the series forever, it was so shit.

The problem is not solely battle frontier. It’s that they didn’t make it with the same kind of passion as they did then.
HGSS felt like a huge treat.
ORAS felt like it’s tradition for tradition’s sake. Felt like an obligation. “Here’s a remake. Done”
The “battle frontier project has started” made me quit Pokemon from 2015 - 2019

Also mallville was weird and just easier gameplay like handing you a lati@s for free. It had lots of cool features I thought mystery islands were cool places to find legendaries if only they physically appeared there instead of talking to a hoopa ring

My issue was there wasn’t really much content to justify playing that for 2 years until SM came out (2015 was a gap year) who was playing oras still a year after it came out?

Here's a tip, if you like something don't worry about how other people feel about it. All games have flaws and yet its still possible to like something in spite of that. There's no
Point trying to argue objectively something this subjective. Just because people here just watched their first molynaux youtube video and want to turn everything into an epic debate and respond to subjective opinions they dont agree split as "not an argument" ultinately means nothing. Your shouting into the wind here no one listens or compromises or changes their opinions after reading these types of threads. Hearing people nitpick every pokemon game in the series when there's fun to be had and good times in every one of them is like that old meme 4/10 would not bang. They look at totally doable 7/8/9/10s and nitpick every feature even though they would cut off a nut just to be in the same room as her without her calling the cops. Its pathetic.

I'm done with my rant. OrAs is fun. I like these games. They have flaws but lots of good shit too.

Oras was the best 3ds pokemon game but the fact of the matter is it set the precedent of modern pokemon remakes, third versions etc. not including enough postgame when postgame basically justified their existence before that.

The Gen 6 engine was the most solid out of any of the fully 3D ones. Maybe the artstyle for the overworld was janky but in terms of gameplay it's about as smooth as Gen 5.

BF was the worst but there were tons of other things that got cut or changed in a way I hated.

I just greatly prefer the gen 3 games and its mechanics for replays, especially now that the Nuzlocke Twitch boom reminded me how many fun hacks it has.
Also, the competitive argument is fucking stupid given how the entire scene moves on to the newest game as soon as it comes out and never goes back. ORAS comp play is at this point exactly as dead as Emeralds, but one at least has a Battle Frontier we can enjoy forever.
