I remember as a kid until last year I thought this was the best arc in the manga then /a/ story timed it and realized alongside myself that only two-three fights are good.

I believe so. Choji's was short but sweet, Naruto vs Sasuke was a given, and I remember during the whole Neji fight there was some sort of flaw but I can't remember what it was. Then there was everything about how the ending of that fight was presented making it seem like he really should have died. I guess if he got killed though it would have made retrieving Sasuke harder. He couldn't be forgiven.

Chunnin exam will always be the best arc, so many cool new powers, amazing and intelligent fight sequences, and even some very emotional resolutions too, it felt so realistic like these were real kids with superpowers
And then Shitppuden came along and it became just another generic shonen anime, Kishimoto is so disappointing
