>>47615471Look, reading a book is fun, at least for me, but when my favorite author goes from writing thrilling mysteries to signing off on having his name used for a generic shooter franchise, I just sigh knowing I will never get what I want: and though it shouldn’t be asking too much, apparently it is. That’s what it feels like playing this game.
Yeah, I can enjoy pokemon now for what it is, I like new designs and moves, pvp is always being tweaked which is good, I’m not a jaded curmudgeon, but on the other hand I know all the polish and secondary/new mechanics don’t make up for a stagnant series whose plot has always been hammed up garbage, manages to steadily worsen over time, cuts content in order to cut corners and conform to industry standard of ship it broken and fix it later (dlc, extra mons, may or may not have been completed prior to base release but is irrelevant to the stereotypical format), and yet still manage to do better and better sales wise because of its fanbase colliding with a new console generation.
You can act high and mighty about not paying (shilling) for this or not (consooming) supporting that, but it’s this dichotomy of those who treasure this shameful pleasure and those who ridicule it from scorn that fuels the contrarian spirit of humanity within us to enjoy regardless of banter or factual arguments, and in return it feeds the anger and hate for what has become of pokemon, making peace impossible.
I might’ve had fun, but I still want a better video game franchise.
