She leaves her hometown with a breedject Gible (perfect IVs, but not the desired nature) from her Grandma. She's initially rather shy, and aimlessly wanders to places such as ruins and libraries that interest her, while having only Budew and Shellos join her. Eventually she meets Prof. Rowan who gives her a dex and direction. After this, she becomes a fully fleshed adult who is quite knowledgeable about Pokemon and history. From these many new friends and adventures she ended up with Riolu, Spiritomb, Feebas, Eevee, and Togepi among others. The original Budew and Shellos died or retired, and final Gastrodon and Roserade on her team are descendants which have Garchomp as paternal great grandmother. While this was happening, Cyrus went on his own journey running away from a neglectful home seeking knowledge about "why" of the world in both scientific and mythical terms, but his experiences were mostly negative and he determined that emotions were damaging. As such, he raised his Pokemon as simply an extension of himself, which his Pokemon considered his kind of friendship despite his aims of trying to ignore emotions. The two never crossed paths directly.
