>>47634800>suddenlybro, i called it shit the moment i saw it. after pokemania kind of died, you had less of a general audience attracted to it and trading was a pretty easy and laid back affair. a common is a common, uncommon is 2-3 commons (whatever you agreed on), etc. and between the two of you you would have an easy time deciding if the condition of one of the cards was going to significantly devalue the card in a trade, sale, or whatever have you. it wasn't fucking rocket science.
grading cards is - besides being money laundering shit - basically involving a middleman in trades/sales that is utterly unnecessary. you really need a third party to apply 'objective criteria' to the worth of your card? fuck you, fuck off. all you're doing is being a sucker for a smoothtalker and for what should've been a casual hobby i could throw some cash at now and again it's become something where tons of people have been hustled for their cash, and the free population of cards not in those ugly-ass slabs is constantly being reduced. yeah, i could break cards out of the slabs, but some stupid fuck who fell for the con man who told him it was a good idea is going to think he's entitled for me to recoup his lost cash.
slab owners are bag holders.
