Because Game Freak knew they couldn't do better and resorted to Kanto Pandering from now on.
Pokemon should have ended after BW2 as it could have at least ended on a good note.

Don't forget about all the other Champions throughout the series at that point.
BW2 may have had Kanto Pandering, but it also had Johto Pandering, Hoenn Pandering, and Sinnoh Pandering.
Unlike the 3D entries that only have Kanto Pandering. Even the JOHTO CENTRIC town in Alola couldn't help but shove in numerous Kanto Pandering into it.

this. ugly puke green is horrid. shiny garchomp is just a darker blue than its original blue, so it doesn't look ugly at least and is only boring and almost not even a shiny. It should have been tan to emphasize the sand shark idea.
