You can still transfer from Gen III up to Gen VIII, but what happens when Nintendo shuts down the 3DS' online functionalities?

Either they say tough shit and don't allow anymore transfer or they keep the servers up, I don't believe they'd have to take everything down on the 3DS like they did on the Wii and DS. Otherwise, the only people who will be able to transfer are people with hacked Switches lmao

The 3DS Pokemon Bank servers won't shut down until at least every mainline game ends up on Switch or its successor. They already said they won't shut out transfers between generations like between 2 and 3 ever again. Shutting down the serves would shut out every game pre Gen 8.
