Why have starters come to look like this? Why is GF making starters overly humanoid now? Is this what fans are asking for nowadays?

I don't mind Blaziken. I mind the trend of "bipedal fighter-types" among Fire type starters though. In general, I think that not enough starters are critters/monsters anymore. They just seem to evolve into animal people.

Burgers have never been important to the franchise, as evidenced by TPCi moving FIRMLY away from their localisation tropes when they took it off them.
There's a reason they did and that was to stop the burgers telling things wrong, as they had done since the start and had to cater to mud-brained bugerchildren.

The original release date is what matters, that's since when it has been publicly been available. Not when you first saw it. You could even have imported it before 2003.
