Honestly gen 6 is the only gen where the difficulty drops too low. All other gens are fine, even gen 8 has some cool fights. The only "good" fight in XY is Diantha.

I played bw2 hard mode and the game was a complete joke

fighting npcs with pokemon 3 levels higher doesn't matter when you end up with pokemon that are 6 levels higher compared to when you would be playing on easy mode

Whitney's gym isn't actually difficult because her team or movesets are especially well put together. Her strategy is purely rng based on stomp flinching and using attract to waste player turns.

The only reason she filters so many retarded children is because her gym is early in the game and the available selection of wild pokemon up to that point in the game doesn't include any fighting types. You have to do an NPC trade to get a type advantage mon on her. Her attract strategy is also highly likely to work on the Player's best mon at this point because everyone uses their 90% male starter as their primary mon during early game. Just unfortunate circumstances coming together that make her seem difficult when she would get shitstomped as easily as anyone else if she were a late-game gym up against a player with a wider team selection.

I beat gens 1 and 2 as a child so I don’t see why they see the need to make every game easier than the last. They included an insanely poorly implemented difficulty select in BW2 and then never touched the concept again. Why? A hard mode option would pull in a wider audience of older players.
