It was my third physical game after Diamond and HG. It was pretty fucking fun.
I spent a lot of time grinding against Elesa, I already saw clips of Japanese play through and was excited to see Skyarrow bridge.
I had a friend online who helped me fight the E4. I would trade my Pokémon and they would grind them for me because I was too underleveled to stand a chance.
I was really giddy to port my Pokémon from Diamond.
It was the last game I played. I never touched XY or ORAS.
I wanted to get sun but I was too lazy.

When I was 7 I couldn't beat IRIS in black 2 with my dogshit team that had a swobat in it for some reason. My cousin beat IRIS using that dogshit swobat with embargo and endeavour strats. Great times

Just randomly walking into Lostlorn Forest with my event Suicune and seeing the Zoroark reveal itself was really mindblowing, I really miss stuff like that. Seriously though, how many people actually discovered that on their own without the internet? I feel special.

gen 5 was the main reason i got into emulation and patching games. I played the fan translations before the game came stateside. It was a lot of fun comparing the japanese names to the english ones

BW came out when I was just starting fifth grade and was that time when most normie kids were getting out of Pokemon. But me and all my spergie friends were still super into it. I had gotten the guidebook and some kid was laughing at Reshiram’s weird feathercock-thing on the cover.
I had taken a trip down to OK for a family event and got stuck on the Nimbasa gym because I was using Pignite. Can’t remember how I finally got through it all tho.
There was the first time I got to Chargestone cave, and I was dead-set on catching a Tynamo. Took me like half and hour or so(probably less because kid brain), but I super stoked to finally catch it.
I remember trying to catch Reshiram/ fight N on a trip out to the woods with my Dad.
All the special events were fun too.
