Instead of downloading e-READER info, load the data in the ROM.
Change it so you can't challenge them until after entering the Hall of Fame.

There are some things in the Japanese version of Emerald that do not have their country code set properly.
From this, we've reviewed the strings that have Japanese text in them and have replaced [the following] places.
- Cable Communication
[Made it so] Emerald (regardless of country) or other versions (i.e. Ruby/Sapphire) can only communicate [with themselves?]
- Secret Bases
[Made it so] Data from Secret Bases made in the Japanese version isn't sent to Overseas Versions
-.Television
[Made it so] Battle Tower data from battles between Japanese and non-Japanese people isn't sent.
- Old Man
When the Legendary Old Man that sends [data] to Ruby and Sapphire, changed "The Name of the Legendary Owner" to "Friend" and send it.
- Battle Tower
For the stock trainers, If the nationality of the Pokémon and trainer is different, if the player's version is Japanese, made it so both are Japanese (i.e. cut names off at 5 characters).
- Disciple
If the disciple [note: I assume this is an NPC that is your fan in the tower] moves between two countries' [versions], there is an issue that needs to be dealt with with their name.
Made it so disciple names for all 6 countries are in the ROM, and determine the name from which country they're from.
-Quiz Lady
If there's an issue with having a problem for which you are unable to enter an answer, display the default problem.
-Strange Gift
Because the amount of characters you can use for News and Mail has increased, forbid transfer with the Japanese version.
