Do you think Pokémon would’ve been more successful if it had designs like this?
There may be “monsterous” designs in Pokémon but not necessarily monster designs. What I mean is that the people designing the Pokémon take careful notice as to not make them monsters. Take Meloetta for example, it has circles for hands, a round face with no nose, no feet and no shoulders but it was designed to have a general humanoid body plan. lt basically it lacks actual monster traits aside from how it renders small features like those. Contrast this to some of the digimon who are essentially very monster like both in traits and bodyplan.
