USUM gets pretty close in some areas but is held back by no lighting and low textures. If they had been ported to Switch with nice clean textures they'd probably beat it out.
It still wouldn't be able to beat the great animations in Colosseum, but it'd be a contender for looks at least.

SWSH has technical improvements, especially in those Gym battles, but most of the time the game looks muddy and gross with frame drops and static Pokemon. Also this is a nitpick but I really don't like the minimalist UI, though that's really an issue with the Nintendo Switch more.
I do like the blur against the trainer and the wild camera angles they've been using since XY though. Dynamax attacks also look neat.

Colosseum and XD are fucking horrible. You know how people whine about GF's games because they're linear, have no postgame, have shit pokemon distribution, are slow, and have no exploration? Take that and amplify it by 10 and you get these games. Yet retards suck their cock anyway because of nostalgia.

no it isn't, you beat the game by spamming STABS on your overleveled starter like always, and if that fails just use dual screens/toxic and you're guaranteed to win.

These games pretty much rip out the only fun parts about Pokemon (the exploration, the party customization, and the multiplayer) and you're left with this garbage husk of a JRPG that keeps all the other flaws and with garbage character designs that don't fit the series at all as the cherry on top.

Someone post the side by side comparison that shows Colosseum/XD were actually faster than nu3D.

And even if they were a bit longer, all the battle animations including fainting ooze charm and personality.
The VFX and sound design for moves were also badass.

Too bad they didn't take these lessons in at Game Freak when it was time to move Pokemon to the Switch.

This is entirely subjective. Many people including myself never had a problem with it.

You don't have to like the game, but saying "its unplayable" instead of "I don't like it" is very different

Unfortunately I don't have the webm to prove this, which is why I asked a kind anon to post it. All I can give you is my word on that.

However, whether the game being slower by a few seconds battle animations making a game "unplayable?" That's pretty hyperbolic. Do you turn off battle animations then? That would speed things up tremendously.

I think they look cool and sound cool, and if they are slower, the tradeoff is worth it.

Something about Sword and Shield seems very minimalist in general, and I'm not sure why they decided to go that route or if it was even intended but just looking at the basic town names in Japanese and the badge names it's kind of a shock. I'm not knocking it though; sometimes its faster and easier and all around better to just call a spade a spade.

I really liked how grounded the art direction was for these games compared to now. Like you had colorful and vibrant areas like Phenac City but the games never looked nearly as candyass and saccharine as SM or SWSH.
