Bank was a scam too but at least you could just move everything over with the initial free trial then never touch it again with nothing to lose if you were smart and if not $5 a year to store a bunch of mons and move them around without having to trade with yourself was a lot better than $16 a year to trap a bunch of your mons and have gts access that was ripped out of the base games. Yes I know they have cheaper subscriptions but free tier is useless and if we're assuming you want to maintain an active subscription until you can actually get everything out of Home then paying smaller amounts more frequently costs more in the long run seeing as it's been over a year already so $16 is the least bad option.
