Ditch monotype replace it with this.
1st gym single
2nd gym double
3rd gym triple
4th gym rotation
5th gym Co op with a rival npc of your choice
6th gym reverse type battle
7th gym totem battle
8th gym full competitive team of 6 singles

E4
Lv50 cap and no switch in allowed
E4 have weather teams sun/hail/rain/sand

Champion is an online player or npc when offline

That would make a lot more sense, it would be hard to fill a region with 8 gyms, but honestly I think 8 gyms is overkill anyway it should only be 4 or 5

I doubt mono type gyms will disappear anytime soon but if they were to vary gyms based on different in-game mechanics like physical and special differences, doubles, synergy, etc. they would be a thousand times better.
