>but it has steel jaws!!!!!They specifically added that line in the pokedex for NO REASON other than to justify its typing because they knew it did NOT fit it. EVERYTHING about it screams Dark Type, it 100% was forced to be Steel at the last minute because they realized they didn't have enough of them in Gen iii.
>>47687520I know it's made of clay like Claydol which is why it's Ground, but the thing is Claydol should have been Rock too. Clay could be represented as Ground type if it were wet and sedimentary, but both these Pokémon are based on hardened clay, which absolutely is way more rock-like. You make bricks out of clay for goodness sake.

Moves like Close Combat also suggest it is meant to be physically aggressive and scrappy in a fight. It doesn't seem to have super strength like other Fighting Types, but it trains itself every day and is skilled in combat.
Nevermind that tho cuz there's a better reason. The English word aura for Lucario is just a localization. In Japanese, it is called Qi(chi). That is ABSOLUTELY unequivocally Fighting Type, it's just that westerners aren't familiar with the concept. That is why Aura Sphere is Fighting Type, it's basically the kamehameha from Dragon Ball Z. Psychic Type would NOT fit because Lucario has no psychic powers in the least. The way it senses emotions is utterly different, Qi is a totally unique concept heavily tied to martial arts.
Lucario is a Steel Type. . .to be real with you, because they just thought it would be cool. But there ARE actual reasons too. It has steel spikes on its hands and chest to symbolize it has "fists of/a heart of steel". No I'm not making shit up, it's intentional. He's supposed to be like a knight, that's why he gets Justified. He has an iron will and a steely gaze, etc.
