BW killed my pokemon mood, XY did nothing to restore it. Came back when pirating ORAS became viable because I was a poorfag at the time and ORAS tickled me the right way with nostalgia pandering. Didn't mind the battle frontier as I never played it as a kid, and I didn't start frequenting this board until late 2015 to have people point that out to me.

I guess it's been over a year and a half since I've played any mainline game actively, though, and possibly longer if you discount swsh because I've only played like 3 hours. That said, I don't count not playing mainline but being active in the community/sidegame sphere as "taking a break".
That and I stopped jerking it to cartoon horses to jerk it to pokedick so I think I'm here to stay.

I really wish I was, but that's exactly what happened. Seeing the mock-up for the Battle Tower made me hate gamefreak so much that I stopped playing. I never bought any gen 7 game, and half the pokedex getting desintegrated exacerbate my hatred for them.
I came back here because I was looking for romhacks and fangames.

I stopped for the most part in 2017 because I thought Sun and Moon were total ass and felt soulless. I really didn’t like the direction the series was going back then. I did play some of the old games briefly in this time (mostly just Gen 2 virtual console and Fire Red).

In 2020 I came back when I finally started playing Sword during lockdowns, and I was pleasantly surprised because everyone told me “it’s really shit” but I thought it was the most enjoyable Pokemon game in a decade and got addicted. Now I’m playing Pokemon more than I have done since the 00s and going back to gens I didn’t play in ages like Gen 4. Still have no real desire to finish Sun and Moon though.

The last time I played Pokemon at all was in 2019. The last game I played was Moon. Not Ultra Moon, just plain Moon. I'm also in my 30s. I'm not necessarily saying that I'm "too old" to play Pokemon, but I do acknowledge that I am no longer the target demographic.

I stopped playing pokemon since Sun and Moon, the newer games just suck and seeing all of the bullshit SWSH was pulling I lost interest. I thought about buying a switch for Pokemon Legends: Arceus but I don't see myself actually doing it.

Probably from Sun and Moon to the tail end of LGPE... 2.5 years maybe? I skipped USUM and didn't have a switch for LGPE but decided to get one and stayed playing pokemon once more a couple months before SWSH released. 2.5 years was my longest break
