Do we still do species variations?

My idea is that you breed two regional forms with each other to make a hybrid form.

Then, you breed any two hybrid forms to make a form that's a tier 'higher'.

The hybrid forms have a slightly higher BST than the base form, then the tier above them has an even higher BST
