But the "temporarily become another character" archetype is actually not that uncommon The morrigan in smite has the exact ability you described as her ulti

To be honest I would be really cool this game lives enough to get all pokemon in. They've already added pokemon like eldegoss and the crab who are not that popular.
I wouldn't mind to end having repeated attacks between mons, in some way that could help to balance as well.
