Jontho is actually the only region where there isnt any threat because its based of Osaka.
Osaka is a rural-ish province of Japan known for being very traditional, chill and laid back, nothing ever happens there, but occasional rape and groping of female tourists.

Johto makes perfect sense and the story is exactly what it needs to be. It's a personal journey where the motivation is "I want to be the best". The B-plot of Team Rocket trying to scramble themselves back together helps tie Kanto and Johto together before you even set foot in Kanto. It doesn't follow the shit formula Hoenn started.

I do think Johto has one of the worst narratives, but I don't think it's because of the reasons you said. It just sort of pitters out lifelessly, but none of the things you said are inherently bad. If Kanto had some sort of broader narrative than the Suicune plot, it would probably be better, and more people would understand that Kanto is the second half of the game, as opposed to one really long postgame.

I understand why GSC couldn't do this, but HGSS could have spiced it up a little bit more. Since they went out of their way to give the Rocket Executives names and new faces, they could have done more to make Team Rocket's stragglers a little more explosive. Or maybe introduce somebody new, I dunno. I mean look at Gundam with the Delaz Fleet and Neo Zeon.
Star Wars could have taken a page out of the Delaz Fleet's book too, and been better for it.

Jontho has no point, no driving reason, its just a overrated slife of life anime.

RSE is perfect because Hoenn is based on the conflict and chaos of nature, two forces colliding, which is so primitive and raw that even humans got tangled in it, and your purpose is to find balance and equilibrium in it.

Johtho Lugia already lives in the depths of the Ocean to not harm anything, and Ho-oh fucked off because he was afraid of hurting people, they both are great guys, theres not even a conflict to be held there.
Even the dogs they created just wander around trying to not catch attention.

Gen 2 is comfy, but THERES NO PLOT.

It's not that Archie and Maxie are crazy, it's that they're poorly put together. They claim to have good intentions, but if they did even a little bit of research, they'd realize the catastrophic consequences of their plans. It's very insincere on a fundamental, meta level; not like a Ghetsis who is lying through his teeth and that's the idea, but just like a failure to communicate the idea of the character.

So you as the player have to do the writing for Game Freak, and when you plug in the holes, Maxie is much easier to tolerate because you can rationalize his plan as wanting more land for development purposes and therefore, profit, but Archie comes off as a complete lunatic no matter what you do, as his plan will even kill Pokemon. Unfortunately, we don't understand why he sees this as potentially beneficial. He's incomplete.

This raises the question. is a better for Game Freak to make games with extremely few minor conflicts scattered around, but no true overarching plot with pretty much no stakes (Johto), or is it better if Game Freak includes an overarching conflict that includes the Legendaries and even a possible apocalypse but characters act like idiots and the villain make no sense (SwSh)

None of that is true. I don't know why you replied to me. Gen 3 is my favorite gen but the plot is supposed to be comical. If you think they wrote characters that literally wanted to flood the land or shrink the ocean you are a fucking idiot.

This is a tie between X/Y and SwSh.
Team flare has no motives other than to serve the master, who didn’t tell them his true plan to thanos the world so more (less) people have more resources. The characters around you hardly recognize what a psychopath Lysander is which is a tactic to make the player feel smarter about his understandings, something babies would feel accomplished figuring out.
Gen 8 is pretty close, since both the fake villain and real villain teams are nigh useless against the MC, don’t really drive the plot, are comically dedicated to their roles, and have no reservations about getting their ass kicked. Gen 8’s plot basically doesn’t exist until the end, and is just a story of becoming a champion, then suddenly you gotta save the world, then it’s back to the tournament. In the end though, energy conservation as a motivation to endanger the world, while incredibly dumb, is not as childish as just killing people so other people can live easier.
