Lapras, Druddigon, and Duraludon are single-stage Pokémon that could do with better stats as well.

Lapras has the stats spread of a defensive Ice-type Pokémon and mediocre Attack and Special Attack.
Druddigon's HP is at 77 despite being slow.
Duraludon's Special Defense is 50, which is SHIT for a Dragon-type Pokémon that was said to be a counter to Fairy-type Pokémon.

Yes exactly this. Some people (kids mostly) are shitters, so the strong mons are for them, weak or otherwise hard to use mons are for the experienced player to use, this way, as you use less and less typical teams, likely on later play throughs, the game gets tougher. It keeps things interesting. If all Pokémon were good the games were feel stagnant to play over and over again

Most of these are serviceable in game and don’t need much to begin with, literally the only ones that really needs fixing is Castform which only needs a sandstorm form and it’s baffling it doesn’t have one to begin with (other than that, the forms have already been fixed to change its type in accordance to the weather), Carnivine only needs more ability options beyond levitate and maybe some stat redistribution’s and maybe heatmor for redistributed stats. The others are perfectly servicable (hell heatmor even got itself a pseudo signature move in gen 7 which is actually one of its best moves). If anything what really needs to happen is that the power creep, speed creep and degenerate stall needs to be dropkicked a notch as the rise of these is making mons that used to be solid unable to compete whatsoever and it’s getting to a point where the game is devolving into either “how should I ensure an OHKO or THKO” or “how should I stall the game to a degenerate degree”.

It's hard to decide what counts as a "shitmon" so I'm going off of anything from Smogon's Gen IV NU list for now: https://www.smogon.com/dex/dp/formats/nu/

There are a few pokemon there that are considered good in-game (like Luxray and Floatzel) so I'll avoid those.

Fair, I mostly thought about mons that are alright competitively but where their best moves are late/postgame TMs or even Egg Moves. Incidentally, I think that's why Quagsire is E: levelup movepool's only noteworthy point is Memequake, rest is pretty meh. Also not average stats and no Unaware

You bring up a good point but the vast majority of pokemon that are good competitively will do fine in-game. I can't think of any specific to Platinum besides maybe Blissey but it's still decent. Water/Ground is a god-tier typing in-game and competitively, plus you get Surf shortly after getting Quagsire and Surf/Quake is basically all you need. Not to mention Water Absorb > Unaware for in-game. Hell, even Damp is arguably more useful. Putting this thing in the same tier as Beautifly should be a crime.
